One question I get a lot is – what is a super-food?
Why should I bother eating them? Surely they’re just hyped-up versions of regular food. Right…?
Well, not quite… Super-foods are just that – foods that contain significantly higher quantities of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and other health-boosting, anti-aging, disease-fighting goodies.
Some are everyday whole foods that you’ll likely have tried before (think broccoli, blueberries; even the humble spud). Others are more exotic, grown in the rainforests of Peru, and picked by Amazonian warriors (okay, maybe not quite). And then there is Raw Cacao. And this is where life gets a lot more interesting.
The super-food of all super-foods, Cacao—the dried seeds at the root of chocolate—is also one of the highest sources of magnesium in nature, full of antioxidants, calcium, zinc, copper, and selenium. Cacao contains more antioxidants per gram than blueberries, goji berries, red wine, raisins, prunes, and even pomegranates.
